| Evidence of Student Learning - Internal: How will the program measure what I have learned?: | AIU has developed a unique assessment process to assess the quality of student work in six major areas throughout our Bachelor of Fine Art in Visual Communication program. Every class has one common assignment which is used to rate each student's abilities in: Research and Information Literacy, Concept, Critical and Creative Thinking and Problem Solving, Design, Technical, and Project Management. Research and Information Literacy: Apply relevant research methodologies to practical and theoretical work. Concept: Apply a cultural and contextual concept to solving complex design problems. Critical and Creative Thinking, Problem Solving: Apply a selective and critically analytic approach to visual problem solving using creativity and originality towards innovative expression in design. Design: Demonstrate a breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding in design strategies and methodologies. Technical: Demonstrate contemporary application of tools and technologies to create, analyze, and evaluate the relevance of work within the industry. Project Management: Demonstrate responsible management skills throughout the design process to production. The results shown below reflect student achievement for the Bachelor of Fine Arts program. The figures represent the percentage of students who received above average (exemplary or accomplished) ratings for the rubric criteria. The results are for the second quarter of 2010, with a total of 63 students in 7 course sections. Research and Information Literacy = 96% |
