Program mission statement:

The Bachelor of Arts in Business Information Systems graduates are able to understand the interaction and importance of information systems and information sharing within a business or organization. Courses will focus on networking, e-business administration, strategic data utilization, business management, as well as problem solving and leadership in designing, developing and implementing new or existing information systems within the business organization. What Will I Learn?

Students will:

  1. Utilize analytical, logical, and critical thinking abilities to analyze user requirements and to design, develop, and deploy effective information systems solutions;
  2. Evaluate appropriate enterprise solutions for business success;
  3. Manage relationships with technology providers and customers;
  4. Analyze alternatives to complex business problems and alternatives; and
  5. Evaluate the business as an integrated information system including the relations among the functional areas, and the application of long-range planning, systems implementation, and control processes.
Evidence of Student Learning - Internal: How will the program measure what I have learned?:

An aggregation of capstone course student work samples from July 31, 2011, through December 31, 2011, in the Bachelor of Arts in Business Information Systems program indicated that approximately 91.82% of sampled student work met learning outcomes.  Consistent with Ashford University’s mission to provide high quality education, this data is reviewed to make adjustments to the program to further enhance and promote student learning.


Results of External Exams/Assessments: What third-party assessments will measure what I have learned?:

Peregrine Academic Services’ Bachelors Academic Degree Level Common Professional Component (CPC)-based Comprehensive Exam, an online exam that includes all business degree curriculum topics. This exam is a University required assessment for this course.
