  • Graduates will be able to apply principles of basic accounting, fiscal management and budgeting appropriate to a public safety agency.
  • Graduates will compare and contrast the similarities and differencs between the roles of managers and leaders in a public safety agency.
  • Graduates will apply basic management skills of planning, organizing, staffing, and decision making within a public safety agency.
  • Graduates will apply critical thinking, reasoning and analytical skills required for ethical decision-making and problem solving in a public safety agency.
  • Graduates will apply appropriate ethical principles, laws, and human relations skills to all facets of operation in a public safety agency.
  • Graduates will demonstrate the ability to make optimal use of available resources to successfully design and manage projects in a public safety agency.

Assignments from courses are reviewed by classroom instructors and/or external evaluators to determine the level of competency for each outcome.

The assessment results for 2009 (n=22, out of a population of 22) showed that on average, students met the outcome (Apply principles of basic accounting, fiscal management and budgeting…) at or above the acceptable levels; the average score was 2.5 on a three-point scale (1 being unacceptable, 2 being acceptable, and 3 being proficient).
