Evidence of Student Learning - Internal: How will the program measure what I have learned?:

How are the outcomes measured?

CTU Online students’ progress is measured using authentic assessment techniques. This means that students demonstrate their level of knowledge through application of what they learn in projects and assignments rather than quizzes or tests.
The University regularly assesses program effectiveness in accomplishing its stated outcomes at Assessment Workshops. Faculty members use rubrics to assess the proficiency students demonstrate in their work. The rubrics use a four point scale: 1=unacceptable; 2=partially proficient; 3=proficient; 4=accomplished. In the September 2009 assessment, examples of student work were randomly selected from selected courses at all program levels (100-400).

How did the students perform?

Core knowledge common to all concentrations 86% (188 out of 217 examples) were proficient or accomplished.
Core knowledge in accounting: 85% (137 out of 160) were proficient
Core knowledge in finance: 74% (105 out of 141) were proficient
