Concentrations and Specializations
Sometimes the electives you decide to take can become the basis of a concentration or specialization. Usually at the master’s level, if you complete on average 12 to 18 credits in a particular subject area, the institution will award you a general degree with a concentration, such as an MBA with a concentration in finance or marketing, an MS in Information Technology with a concentration in network architecture, or an MS in Nursing with a specialization in nursing education. Some online programs offer concentrations or specializations while others do not.
